Christmas 2006 & Other Things
Yesterday we had the gig at our place, joined by my 3 kids, 2 grandkids, friends Rich, Judy, kevJuan and Vandy, and Cathy's dad, mom, Carri, Mike, Tammy, their two babes and Crystal. There were three dogs here for a while too, Angel, Gigi and Gino. Cathy and I were talking after everyone left how very lucky we are, how precious these folks are to us.
Here's a shot of the two grandbabies, Jordyn and Ryan:
Last nite I finished reading Mitch Albom's The Five People You Meet In Heaven. Of his three books I've read (also Tuesday's With Morrie and For One More Day), this is my least favorite in terms of "getting it on", but the book is beautiful, and the ending is awesome and sweet. Lessons on connection are strong throughout the story. I do really enjoy Mitch's work, mostly page-turners, filled with love and wisdom for all of us.
Getting close to finishing Jimmy Carter's latest book. I see that it gets a lot of folks riled up, apparently because we are stuck on Israel in some crazy ways ($$ I think? or biblical). I've read in several places recently that the AIPAC pretty much "owns" a lot of our politicians and policies and absolutely the press. Nonetheless, it's interesting to take the time to understand what' s behind most of the craziness over there (land). And for those who want to bash Jimmy Carter, I say have at it, for one thing, he's doing SOMETHING, the lucky guy, ANYTHING to help. That's way ahead of most of the arm-chair crap I get to listen to!
Enough ranting.
