One out of every ten children

Got this from my friend Malcom today.

A Harrison Arkansas couple, 'the Stills' both bonified rednecks, had 9 children. They went to the doctor to see about getting the husband 'fixed'. The doctor gladly started the required procedure and asked them what finally made them make the decision. Why, after nine children would they choose to do this?

The husband replied that they had read in a recent article that one out of every ten children being born in the United States was Mexican, and they didn't want to take a chance on having a Mexican baby because neither of them could speak Spanish.

While you were sleeping

After Wednesday's Echo Canyon climb, it sure was sweet being back on Cholla this morning. The Cholla side does not care to embarass me. Bobby had to get to work early today, so she and Mellissa went to the saddle.
On my way down I caught this pic there too.
Todays poetry.

It’s all made up

until you wake up

ever met anyone who

was nothing like you

don’t you hear their drum?

think your’s the only one?

a bed, car, the s&p bench, bus, charity time to read and enjoy each day better than rushing about this way 3 hots & a cot, I like it this way

Queen of the Night

and the King 0f the Hill. At it again. We went up Echo Canyon side today. That is not the same mountain we've been climbing Cholla Way! Served up lots of pain. It's a good thing its dark most of the time, if I saw that hill with my own eyes I probably would bail. It's best to leave your eyes outta the situation, trust your legs and lungs to feel enough pain!

We met up with Melissa at the Saddle on the way down. The girl got bit by the mountain about 2 weeks ago, there's no hope for her now. First time I've seen her in the daylight!

Today's Haiku.

Did the mountain adjust my seratonin? It seems just right.

Oxymoron

If the EPA is not the perfect example of an Oxymoron what is? Check out the latest. My goodness, at least take out the P would ya, like for Protection, or People.
Why would we possibly want to limit how much rocket fuel is in our water? It's a no brainer.

Happy Birthday Michelle

Today is Michelle's birthday. Andy joined Bobby and I for a run up the hill. It is Monday. We're gonna go to lunch at Red Lobster to put some icing on the birthday cake. In case you don't know us, Michelle is Michelle Singleton. The reason for a lot of good stuff in this world. Check out her website here.
Nice hike today. Andy made it look easy. Once again, here I am, running with the most beautiful women on earth, and the luckiest guy on Camelback Mountain.
I sent Bobby a little multiple-choice quiz this morning.

o Strong o Beautiful Pick only two.

You must obey the mountain

You may remember that yesterday I missed the hike on account a I didn't set my alarm. This morning I had to do a makeup-hike to keep up with the class. It was beautiful out there again this morning. You do have to obey the mountain.

Some do and Some don't

Today, Bobby and Bonnie did, and I didn't. I got nothing to say about that. Sorry Bonnie, had to crop your blurred self outta this pic. Missed you guys this AM. I'm a looser.

Alive!

This hike is the easiest, clearest thing I'm gonna do all day! I found this picture here via a search from Yahoo. Jim has some beautiful photos, I hope he doesn't mind that I stole this one for our blog. There was a bit of cutting up on the top this morning. Frisky. Cool. Beautiful.

Cut back

We can do better than this ya'll. It's one thing to share of this earth. It's not OK to be cruel. Sometimes I think it all ended right after grandma and grandpa, this whole respect for life.
When we started on this meat-thing, we were familes, growing our own food, taking care of each other and our animals. Factory farms are not into that, and we should be outraged.

Good Morning Phoenix

We were three again today.

The Mountain.

At first it hurts because it has to. Now it hurts because we want it to.

I'm the luckiest man on that mountain.

Sunday Goodies

Some various goody for today. First, Tuff was not the first word that came to mind about the guy in Texas holding on to a car.

On Friday night, Cathy and I went to dinner with ZoZo for Chinese. At the Desert Jade they call her Yo Yo and we have a tradition of following our fortune from the cookie with "underneath the sheets". Zozo had the best, "Be prepared to receive something special."

A reminder, Singleton Moms is hosting the Lean On Me Wine Tasting shin-dig and silent auction on October 3rd. We need your support now. We have 8 moms on service and have started a waiting list. Please join us for some great wine, appetizers and hob-nobbing with the founders of this awesome organization, Jody and Andy! When they're real big, you'll be able to say something cool about the early days!

My friends Mary and Billy from Canada forwarded this smile from God earlier this week. I miss Mary.

Do'in The Damn Thing

Stronger than ever. Beautiful and cool this morning. Today makes 4 weeks of do'in the damn thing! We don't hike the mountain so we'll live long, we hike the mountain in case we do.

School Again, 2008

I am back at school. I signed up for an online Math and Creative Writing Class. Dropped the Math Class as soon as I realized that I would have to spend more than 30 minutes a day doing shit like dividing 38 into 432,128. That's right, week one! Something about the rounding?

Anyway, I love being on campus. It's so stimulating. The class is full of crazies like myself, who wanna write. Should be fun. I will post each paper I write here in this blog after my very cool instructor has a chance to grade it, so you can see what he thinks of my mess.

I do like searching for pictures on the internet using a word like mess, or I know you liked instructor!

5.3 Million Dollars?

So, for 2 years, someone (me and you?) spent 5.3 million dollars on this? It's time to vote for Obama! :) I mean they say its recreational, is that so wrong? What the hell is a brief sexual relationship? I guess I forgot.

Sex, drugs and inappropriate gifts alleged in government probe Posted: 05:35 PM ET WASHINGTON (CNN) — Key government officials doing business with the energy industry had sex with, used illegal drugs with, and accepted gifts from representatives of oil and gas companies they were supposed to be signing contracts with, according to a report issued Wednesday by the Department of the Interior’s inspector general. The $5.3 million, two-year investigation “uncovered recreational marijuana and cocaine use” by “a handful” of Interior Department staff, and found two federal employees “engaged in brief sexual relationships with representatives from companies doing business” with the department. Two Interior Department employees “received combined gifts and gratuities on at least 135 occasions from four major oil and gas companies with whom they were doing business — a textbook example of improperly receiving gifts from prohibited sources,” Inspector General Earl Devaney says in a letter to Interior Secretary Dirk Kempthorne accompanying the report. Randall Luthi, head of the Minerals Management Service at the Interior Department, said the public had not suffered financial losses as a result of the behavior by the MMS employees. Even if You Don't Want To

This is one big mountain, hear me now, and listen to me later! Didn't want to do it today. Did it anyway. We're crazy that way. Beautiful morning, best so far. Can Feel Fall, at least early in the day we can.

The Jewel

Cathy and I went up to Cave Creek at ODarkHundred this morning, hoping to get a nice hike in at the Jewel of the Creek. Several years ago when I was playing with Volunteers For Arizona we were up there a bit in the winter, working on those trails. My guess is VOAz hasn't been up there in a while, the trails are in pretty bad shape. But fortunately, VOAz and/or no body else is in charge of desert beauty.

Learned about some other trails up that way for next time. Fall/Winter/Spring are coming to the desert right?
